To Pet or Not To Pet - UPDATED 1/23/08

Updated on 1/23/08: Thomas O'Malley is now the man of the house here at Little House. He's snoozing away on my lap right now. Mostly he's good company, but sometimes he gets in my way. He says the same about me:-)

When I moved into the apartment in 2004, their pet deposit was $400 so I had to tell my beloved Thomas O'Malley that he couldn't go with me. Now he's looking to relocate so Wesley and I have sent out numerous emails to our cat-lover friends hoping some kind soul will take him in. Thomas, not Wesley:-)

I tried to avoid the idea of my taking him, and that worked for several days. Then, as I was brushing my teeth while looking out the bathroom window the other day, I saw a tabby cat walk across the lot next door. Was it a sign I could ignore? Not for long.

I know from experience that I'm capable of turning off my emotions and taking Thomas to a shelter or, God forbid, the pound. However, I've done many things in my life that I regret, and I don't wish to add to that list.

So, after some soul searching and discussing with Susie's spokesperson, I'm thinking the right thing to do is welcome Thomas into Little House. Stay tuned...
