I'm sitting here in Colburn's living room while he takes another nap. Because of his Lortabs and unrelenting pain, not only in his right arm but all over his body, his mood alternates between jittery, grumpy and concern about me. His right arm isn't bruised but there's a dent where his bicep should be and his lower arm is swollen. That probably means he tore the bicep tendon.
We went to the bookstore and Best Buy (where I fell in lust with the 24-inch iMac) just to get out of the house and then stopped by Chili's for a late lunch.
While eating I was thinking about how to rearrange my schedule this week. We won't know until he talks to the doctor(s) tomorrow how soon he will need surgery. As of last Thursday, I'm now eligible to take my vacation days. I was hoping to use them on a trip together and a day or two with the grandkids. But life comes at you pretty fast, so being flexible is a powerful virtue to practice.
Of course he doesn't want me to miss work or use vacation time, but I told him I'll be here for him. I also said, "I'm your virtual wife, so I'll be here." He's a man of few words and many Scottish grunts, so he grunted. Hmmph.
I'm feeling a little isolated out here in the dry and windy boonies, but it beats the socks off being at home and totally unable to help him. I don't think I'd be able to stay away, so that means I'm in the right place.
